Use a chair in seated and standing poses for greater support, stability, and balance. Engage in poses that invite greater flexibility, balance, strength, and coordination. Welcome a sense of peace as you invite breath awareness and community connections. May limit to 16 in class. At 6:30: Justice for the Poor by Jim Wallace and Sojourners. (6 weeks) Justice for the Poor recaptures the biblical vision that links poverty with justice. Jesus’ life and teaching often shows a deep compassion toward the poor and marginalized Facilitated by Deb Broadwater Vanishing Grace, Whatever Happened to the Good News? by Philip Yancey (6 weeks) Beginning October 15th In Vanishing Grace, Yancey tackles challenging and timely questions and offers a discerning look at what contributes to the rising decline of Christianity. In the wake of recent events and cultural shifts, people both inside and outside the church are thirsty for grace. Vanishing Grace calls us to see their thirst, and ours, in a hopeful new light as we listen, love, and offer a grace that is truly good news. Facilitated by Deb Broadwater The Chosen Season 5 (8 weeks)- The Chosen: Last Supper – The table is set. The people of Israel welcome Jesus as King while his disciples anticipate His crowning. Facilitated by Randy Camden Disciple 1 Fast Track (12 weeks) Studying the Bible is essential to becoming a disciple of Christ. Classes cover the entire Bible in two 12 week sessions. Once you have completed Disciple 1, you may take any if the other Disciple classes. Facilitated by Lynda Imirie Getting Ahead – (14 weeks) Starts at 5 pm BUMC is partnering with Lake Christian Ministries to offer “Getting Ahead in a Just Getting by World”. This course is designed for those struggling to make ends meet, living in unstable and stressful situations, and who are looking to build resources that will enable them to make the changes in their lives that they desire. An application process is required. (Email Susan Hughes, susieqhughes@gmail.com, for application) Facilitator: TBD Financial Empowerment (7 weeks)- Topics include: Detailed budgeting, setting goals, dealing with debt, and prioritizing spending. Facilitator: Bob Rayman Walking With God in the Season of Motherhood (12 weeks)- Being a mom usually means being busy. Yet one encounter can help shape a very busy moment: time in the word with Jesus. In this class, we’ll learn together how to connect with God and each other through Bible journaling and devotions.
