Join us for an afternoon with James Wilson, whose striking photographic work is currently on exhibition at Bright & Brine. James will speak about his artistic process, the stories behind his images, and his decades-long career documenting people and places across New Brunswick.
James Wilson is a fine art photographer living and working from his home-based studio in Hampton, New Brunswick. His work is held in numerous public, corporate, and private collections throughout North America and Europe, including the National Gallery of Canada, Beaverbrook Art Gallery, New Brunswick Museum, the New Brunswick Art Bank, and five Canadian embassies, most recently the Canadian Embassy in Paris.
Wilson is known for his large-format rural landscapes, still-life photography, and natural-light black and white studio portraits that he refers to as “Social Studies.” His portraits capture people from all walks of life and reflect a deep curiosity about the human experience.
He is also the author of three books: Portraits of New Brunswick Painters, Lost Murals of Fred Ross, and Social Studies, a collection of studio portraits of New Brunswickers.
James has presented 28 solo exhibitions and his work continues to be widely collected and exhibited.
This is a great opportunity to hear directly from the artist, ask questions, and spend time with the work in a relaxed setting. Everyone is welcome.
