- **Event Description**: The Princess Grace Irish Library is delighted to announce that Professor Christopher Morash is The Ireland Funds Monaco Writer-in-Residence this autumn. He will spend the month of November at the Library working on his next book.

Professor Morash is the Seamus Heaney Professor of Irish Writing at Trinity College Dublin and a Member of the Royal Irish Academy.  He is the author of numerous books on Irish literature and culture - most recently, 'Dublin: A Writer’s City' (2023). 

His lecture to the public promises to be an insightful evening for those who wonder what it was like to be present in the room with some of Ireland's greatest writers exercising the art of conversation. Writers in the early 20th century included W.B.Yeats who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1923 (see photo). This topic is the basis for Prof Morash's new book, in its simplest terms, about literary salons, those semi-formal, private, gatherings of writers. His talk will draw on his research, including diaries, letters, and memoirs.
