Join us for the Garigal Gorillas Gravity Academy — a fun, skills-focused MTB session designed to help young riders develop confidence, technique, and racing knowledge.



What to Expect

Led by experienced MTB coaches, this session will include:

Group instruction and personalised feedback
Skill-building drills and trail application
Racing strategies, safety, and theory
A supportive and fun environment to progress



Who Can Join

This session is designed for riders aged 12 to 17 with some MTB experience.

If you’re outside this age range, the minimum requirement is that the rider should be comfortable riding up and down the easiest trail a few times.

Equipment Required

MTB in good working order (Enduro or trail bike preferred)
Full-face helmet (mandatory)
Gloves, knee pads, and other protective gear
Water bottle or hydration pack
AusCycling and Garigal Gorillas membership (required for insurance) https://garigalgorillas.com.au/pages/faq

Schedule



9:00 AM – Meet at the DHaRCO BIKE HUB (283 Mona Vale Rd Terrey Hills)

Rider check-in and bike inspection
Coaches available to assist with bike setup and gear check
Ensure riders are in time and ready to ride with all required equipment and water



9:30 AM – Group Rides Begin
We’ll ride to JJ Melbourne Hills Reserve via the underpass for a series of skill-building activities or elsewhere depending on the schedule.

Those interested in racing will join a focused session covering safe practice, line choice, and race-day preparation.



11:30: Return to the DHaRCO BIKE HUB-Pick-Up at 12pm at the latest

This session is limited to 18 participants. If it's fully booked, please reach out to join the waiting list—if there’s enough interest, we’ll do our best to arrange an extra coach and open more spots.

We can only offer a refund or transfer to another date if we receive at least 24 hours’ notice, as we need time to organise enough coaches for the session.
