- **Event Description**: The History Museum of Mobile’s upcoming Learning Lunch Program is on Wednesday, March 11th at 12 PM and will feature Brantley James, Curator of Education at the History Museum of Mobile. The title of his presentation is The Willing Raids.

The Willing Raids was a military expedition led by Captain James Willing of the Continental Navy in the British West Florida town of Natchez in 1778. The goal of the raids was to establish a supply line from Spanish controlled New Orleans to the American patriots fighting in the Revolutionary War in the northern 13 colonies. Captain Willing and his raiders pillaged various plantations along the Mississippi River and brought the goods back to New Orleans. Even though West Florida was mostly a mix of loyalists and citizens aiming to stay neutral, The Willing Raiders brought a taste of the American cause to the Gulf Coast.
 
Brantley has been a member of the staff of the History Museum for four and a half years. He started out in the living history program and worked his way up to Curator of Education. He holds a bachelor's degree in history from the University of South Alabama and is currently working on his master’s degree in secondary education from the University of West Alabama. He is a loving husband to his wife, Erin, and a proud cat dad.

The History Museum of Mobile invites the public to attend the free Learning Lunch lecture series. Guests are encouraged to bring their lunch and enjoy a presentation on an historical or cultural topic.
