December Artwalk with RJ McDowell & John Miller

Join us for December Artwalk with YA horror author RJ McDowell and poet John Miller. Both will be chatting with guests and signing their latest works as holiday shoppers browse our selection of genre fiction, general fiction, nonfiction, poetry collections, and more! Say hi to Mr. Bingley, the world's coolest bookstore cat, and give all the haints of The Haunted Book Shop a "Happy Holidays!" greeting on this cheeriest of Artwalk evenings in downtown Mobile.

In Agatha Anxious & the Deer Island Ghost, readers are introduced to young Agatha Anxious, who finds herself embroiled in a gripping mystery right on her 13th birthday—a narrative that speaks to both young audiences and lovers of well-crafted suspense. As Agatha confronts the supernatural with guts and guile, she navigates the eerie disappearance of her Aunt Hattie with only a pirate coin, skeleton-drawn clues, and a mysterious book report to guide her.

A river swollen and drained by tides, a dauntless heart pumping time, forms the center of How My Father Became a Boat. This poetry collection begins in the last days of the speaker’s father before fanning out like the teeming deltas of its poems including boating in coastal waters, traveling backroads to and from the river, and mining the dictionary for comfort. Explore the Gulf South as setting and lens on a journey from loss to hope. In addition to interrogating how place contributes to identity, How My Father Became a Boat examines the nature of grief.
