What is a Star Party?

A Star Party is a gathering where amateur and professional astronomers set up telescopes for the public to view celestial objects and learn about the night sky. The darker the skies (away from light pollution), the better. Star parties are designed to foster a love of astronomy and provide an opportunity for the public to explore the wonders of the night sky.
 

Participants can:

🌟 Look at planets, nebulae, stars, and other celestial objects through telescopes (weather dependent).

🌟 Learn about astronomy from experienced astronomers.

🌟 Try out different types of telescopes.

🌟 Socialize with other astronomy enthusiasts

NRAO staff will have several optical telescopes set up and you may also bring your own.
