This August, the Drexel Theatre presents a program dedicated to one of America’s filmmaking legends with “Francis Ford Coppola: Beyond Godfather.” Focusing on Coppola’s work outside of his seminal gangster trilogy, we’re screening two ’70s masterpieces, an underloved ’80s curio, and a gothic ’90s spectacle.

BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA: Coppola’s lavish, gothic film reimagines the classic vampire tale, restoring the tragic and romantic aspects that have been left out of many previous adaptations. Gary Oldman delivers one of his best performances as the titular bloodsucker. Winona Ryder, Keanu Reeves, Anthony Hopkins, Richard E. Grant, Sadie Frost, Cary Elwes, Monica Bellucci, and Tom Waits costar in this operatic and visually opulent picture that blends eroticism and horror, delivering one of the quintessential adaptations of Stoker’s classic.
