A Service of Word based on Hosea 11:1-11

Our journey with the prophets ends with this vision of hope for Israel. God grieves Israel’s foolish choice to turn away and yet commits to Israel’s redemption. Despite our tendency to turn from God and to sin, God has never stopped wanting what is best for us, wanting to care for our wellbeing. From the moment we started to sin in the Garden, God did not abandon us. Why, then, doesn’t God save us from our suffering?

Where was God when Israel was conquered by the Assyrians?

What is God referring to in Hosea 11:11, “And I will bring them home again”?

Why does God’s compassion always win out over Their anger?
