We’re throwing a zucchini party, and you’re invited!

Join us for the first-ever Zucchini Bread Bake-Off on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Grandpa Shorter’s Gifts in downtown Petoskey. Inspired by National Sneak Some Zucchini Onto Your Neighbor’s Porch Day (yes, that’s a real thing), we’re turning this late-summer veggie into a delicious competition—all for a great cause.

How It Works:
Bring your best homemade loaf and let the judges decide!

⏰Drop Off Entries: 9:00 – 11:00 AM

⏰Judging Begins: 12:00 PM

⏰Winners Announced: 3:00 PM (in-store and on Facebook Live)

⏰Sign-Up: In-store only

⏰Entry Fee: $15 donation to Manna Food Project (cash or check only)

Categories:

🥒Classic Zucchini Bread

🥒Creative Twist (think chocolate chips, herbs, citrus, etc.)

🥒Kids (14 and under)

Entry Guidelines:

✅One loaf per person

✅Mini loaves preferred (but not required)

✅Use a disposable container (bread and pans will not be getting returned)

✅Homemade entries only

✅Label your loaf with your name, phone number, and category

Judging Criteria:

Each loaf will be scored 1–10 on:

👉Appearance

👉Texture

👉Flavor

👉Creativity (if applicable)

👉Overall Impression

Prizes:
🎉Every entrant gets a $25 gift certificate to Grandpa Shorter’s family of stores.

🎉Winners in each category will receive a $250 gift certificate to a variety of downtown Petoskey businesses!

🎉All entry fees support Manna Food Project, helping nourish our local community. Your zucchini bread helps spread joy and do good! Bake it. Share it. Win it. Do good.
