Jim Bridger at Home and at Rest in Kansas City

Famed mountain man, fur trader, scout, and Army guide Jim Bridger (1804-1881) spent his last years at his farm on Indian Creek in what is now south Kansas City. He rests today in Mt. Washington Cemetery in Independence, Missouri.

Jerry Enzler of Dubuque, Iowa, author of "Jim Bridger: Trailblazer of the American West" (University of Oklahoma Press 2023) will speak about Bridger’s life and influence on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 12:00 noon at the Mallinson Vineyard & Hall, 3029 North River Boulevard, Sugar Creek, Missouri. Enzler’s presentation is sponsored by the American Heritage Partners. The cost for lunch and presentation is $25.00.
