Sylvania Writes Out Loud: Poetry Slam--Back to School Edition!!

Join us at Olive's on Main (5629 Main St.) for downtown Sylvania's monthly poetry slam as part of Red Bird Sylvania's First Friday events!
And special for September--to "celebrate" back to school--we will have a kids' poetry slam PLUS our regular monthly poetry slam!!
The kids' poetry slam will start at 5:30, with sign-up beginning at 5:15 p.m. All ages are welcome to participate!! Our regular poetry slam will start after the kids' poetry slam. There are no age stipulations for either slam, so if you're at an age where you could viably compete in either slam, you get to decide which one you're most comfortable participating in.
The rules are the same for both slams: To participate, bring three *original* poems (max. 3 minutes per poem).
A poetry slam is a friendly and fun competition that consists of three rounds (with participants being eliminated--based on the scoring--each round). Volunteers from the audience will be the poetry slam judges! No experience necessary.
**There will be prizes!**
***In the event that we do not have enough kids sign up for the kids' poetry slam, participants will be invited to simply read their poems for the audience rather than competing.***
