Communities of Change: Impacts of Cultural Ecosystem Services on Wells Reserve Volunteers

The Wells Reserve is home to a vibrant volunteer community. This spring, the Reserve surveyed volunteers to discover what impacts the Wells Reserve has on them. This was done by measuring “cultural ecosystem services,” defined as the nonmaterial benefits someone gains from interacting with natural spaces. This research will help the Reserve improve volunteer programs and continue inspiring community engagement with environmental resources and stewardship. In this presentation, Summer Intern Emma Knudson will dive into the results of the survey and unpack what they mean for this community and the National Estuarine Research Reserve System as a whole.

Preregistration is not required. Suggested donation: $5/person. Learn more at wellsreserve.org/event/76703/communities-of-change-impacts-of-cultural-ecosystem-services-on-wells-reserve-volunteers
