About Gaza Soup Kitchen

Chef Mahmoud, who always ended his videos by thanking his friends in the United States and signing off with the Arabic word “Mostamreen” (مستمرين) 💪, meaning “we will continue,” left a legacy of resilience and hope. His spirit lives on through our family and friends who now manage the different locations for us across North and South Gaza.
darling

Darling Damselfly:

"Darling Damselfly, a Philadelphia-based band, wants their most recent album, “Galapagos,” to get listeners thinking about humankind’s relationship with the planet — in the hopes of saving it.

Sammy Shuster (singer/songwriter) and Lexie Diallo — the two-person band’s violist — released “Galapagos” in October. The five-track album, which is available on Bandcamp, explores scientific phenomena from evolution to photosynthesis while prompting listeners to make connections to their own lives." - Jenny Roberts:Grid Magazine
metazoans

Metazoans:

What does it feel like to be an animal? If the experience of being could be put into words for a certain species, how would that sound? What stories could be told about our precarious moment in natural history? Metazoa is a collection of songs inspired by the science of life, evolution, and animal consciousness. Throughout the album a variety of perspectives are presented: a praying mantis embracing her lover to death, a whale on a sacred journey, the last Pinta Island Galapagos tortoise personally coming to terms with extinction, and a menagerie of prehistoric fauna in our scientific Garden of Eden, “Pleistocene Paradise”. Full arrangements reflect an eclectic range of influences such as Brazilian guitar, jazz, rock, and world rhythms.

The Great Cackler

Justin Duerr (Northern Liberties, Hex Nine, et al) and Mandy Slipoj Katz (Invasive Species, Beware The Blunted Needle, Vulgar Remedies, etc) join together as The Great Cackler (fka Geb The Great Cackler), an acoustic duo drawing upon their shared experiences of over a decade, personally, creatively, and both as one.
