With a soulful voice that can evoke the raw emotion of a field holler, Johnny captivates audiences during his performances. He skillfully plays lead guitar while incorporating a generous amount of harmonica into his sound. His musical style is deeply rooted in his heritage, with influences from both Mississippi and Texas; his mother is from Clarksdale, MS, and his father was a Holiness preacher from Texas.

His musical inspirations include legends like B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, George Jones, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and ZZ Top. Johnny Riley delivers high-energy performances across genres such as blues, country, outlaw blues, rock, and contemporary blues. He has an extensive repertoire of original songs and over 200 cover tracks, allowing him to perform solo, as a duo, or with a full band.
