Please join us for Genetic Genealogy Basics presented by Dr. Joyce Furfaro on Thursday, August 7, at 7 pm. This talk will provide an overview of the different DNA testing companies, and better prepare you for how to use your results. She will discuss the basics of DNA, SNPs, Y-DNA, mDNA, and how to use genetic genealogy to confirm your paper trail findings. A list of resources will help in exploring these topics on your own. Expect to hear a story or two about secrets and surprises that genetic genealogy can reveal, and how to deal with such findings. Dr. Joyce Furfaro was born and raised in Bellefonte, and spent many hours in the Centre County Library and Historical Museum in her youth, searching for genealogy clues. Now using DNA, Joyce tracked down her father’s biological father and half siblings.
