Suchitra Mattai Artist Talk

Join us for a conversation with artist Suchitra Mattai and Karin Campbell, Phil Willson Curator of Contemporary Art and the principal curator for the Riley Contemporary Artists Project Gallery.

"Suchitra Mattai: The Fall" is on view through September 7 in the Riley CAP Gallery. Mattai explores stories of migration and the search for identity that diasporic communities often experience. Comprising hundreds of colorful South Asian saris encircling a pool of broken glass, "The Fall" reflects on the collective trauma of her ancestors, indentured servants who were forcibly relocated to Guyana, and casts the gallery space as a site of healing and future imagining.

5 pm cash bar in the Cafe Atrium

Free for Joslyn members; $10 for general public; registration required; walk-ins accepted as space allows.
