Inizjamed and the Malta Mediterranean Literature Festival are honoured to present “Colourful Threads: A Night with Kassia St Clair.” On the 30th of August, bestselling author and cultural historian Kassia St Clair will be interviewed by researcher and scientist Joseph Caruana, as well as read excerpts from her work. The conversation will be accompanied by live drawings by local artist Darren Tanti. Following the discussion, Kassia St Clair will be signing copies of her books, which will also be available for purchase. This event is being organised in collaboration with Teatru Salesjan.
Kassia St. Clair is known for her engaging explorations of the overlooked and everyday. ‘The Secret Lives of Colour’, was a Sunday Times top-ten bestseller and has been translated into over 20 languages. Other books include ‘The Golden Thread’, which was a Sunday Times Book of the Year and was shortlisted for the Somerset Maugham Award and ‘The Race to the Future: The Adventure that Accelerated the 20th Century’. All three were selected as BBC Radio 4 Books of the Week. She contributes essays and reviews on design, culture and history to publications including The Washington Post, The Economist, Architectural Digest and Wired. She holds a first-class degree in history from Bristol University and a master’s with distinction from Oxford, where she focused on women’s dress and the masquerade during the long 18th century. She lives in London.
