Throttle Time Experience

Our Throttle Time program allows you to get up close and personal with one of our 1,500 horsepower locomotives. For this 1.5 hour-long session, you will spend the first 30 minutes going over the rules and safety procedures and learning how to operate one of the Museum's diesel locomotives from an experienced Museum engineer. You will then spend the remainder of your time at the throttle of the locomotive on the Museum's main line; the former Lebanon Branch of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad, under the supervision of your engineer.
In order to be a Throttle Time engineer, you must be at least 18 years old, physically able to climb up to and enter the locomotive cab, and able to operate the locomotive controls. You must hold a valid driver's license in your state or country of residence. Sturdy closed toe shoes are required, no open toe shoes are allowed in the locomotive.
