Learn how to craft pots on the potters wheel! The Weekend Pottery Throwing Course is suitable for beginners and improvers alike.
On the first day we start at the beginning – how to prepare, centre and shape clay. Each potter will have their own wheel. You will be guided step by step through the process of making cylinders (cups), before moving onto making bowls. After lunch learn how to make different forms such as jugs with spouts. You’ll be encouraged to work at your own pace, practicing to create your perfect pots!
Day two your pots will be dry and ready to trim and turn. We will also look at making and adding handles. If time allows, there will be the opportunity to throw a few more pieces too.
At the end of the weekend you’ll have lots of pots, and choose your top three to be glazed and fired. This course really immerses you in the making process; you'll progress and feel a sense of acheivement by the end, complete with your own hand crafted pottery.
Pottery will be fired and glazed ready for 6-8 weeks later.
