Come along and either sing or listen to this lovely Office according to the traditional usage of the Catholic Church.
St John's main Feast Day is 7th May, the date of his death. However, on the pre-conciliar Calendar for the Diocese of Leeds, in which Scarthingwell lies, it is celebrated on the 25th October, the date of his Translation to the See of Beverley. Some Eastern Orthodox Churches also celebrate the Feast on this day. Having sung a Byzantine Office earlier this year on 7th May, this gives us another opportunity to celebrate St John of Beverley as he is the secondary Patron of this church after the Immaculate Conception!
Music will be mainly Gregorian Chant, but may include chants from the Uses of Sarum and York. If you are able to come along in any capacity, it would be lovely to see you there!
