About Orchards Children's Services:
Strengthening the community through quality services to children and families is Orchards Children’s Services' mission—both in words and actions. They exist for one purpose: to serve children and families healing from the trauma of abuse and neglect. Founded in 1962 by the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) Greater Detroit Section as a single residential group home for seven boys with emotional impairments, Orchards Children’s Services now serves over 8,000 children across Michigan. The organization began because a small, courageous group of women dared to question how things had been done in the past and were driven to create a better future. That same spirit has guided them ever since.
They believe in engaging individuals as active participants in building their own future. By working in partnership with parents, relatives, foster parents, and youth in their households and communities, they empower families to achieve stability and long-term self-sufficiency in safe and caring environments.
