**Pre-registration is required for this event
Celebrate International Bat Night with us at Seven Islands State Birding Park as we explore the fascinating world of bats! These incredible nocturnal creatures play a vital role in our ecosystems by eating insects, pollinating plants, and dispersing seeds. Through a presentation by a local bat rehabilitation center and guided evening walk, you’ll discover what makes bats so unique, how scientists study them, and what you can do to help protect them. This program shines a light on an often-misunderstood group of animals that are essential to both nature and humans.
This program is recommended for ages 6 and up. Please meet at the Bluebird Barn at 8:00 PM. Be prepared to walk approximately 1.5 miles over both paved and unpaved surfaces. For more details about the route we will take, read the Essential Eligibility Criteria. We will begin with an indoor talk before heading out with bat detectors to listen for echolocation and search the skies for bats as they emerge at dusk.
The cost of this program is $10 for adults and $6 for kids ages 6-12. Kids under 6 are free with a paying adult.
Please come prepared with good walking shoes, a flashlight or headlamp with a red light setting, insect repellent, and a water bottle. Pets are not allowed on programs, except service animals.
