The Appalachian Spirit Gallery, 144 West Main Street in Marion Va. has a great night planned for their August 8, 2025 Second Friday ArtWalk. This Artwalk event will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
In the Gallery's ongoing efforts to showcase the talent of musicians living within a 30 mile radius of Marion, the August event will feature an exciting music concert by Marion's own Morrison and Perkins. The dynamic duo of Stacey Perkins and Adrienne Morrison cover songs from various genres of music, from 80s rock to current country favorites and all points in between. The August concert is sponsored by the Bank of Marion.
The featured artist for the August Artwalk event is Michelle Statton from Gordonsville, Va. Michelle has a good friend from Marion who visited the gallery several times last year and who convinced gallery members to have a show of her work.
Michelle states this about her love of painting: "Painting runs in our family on both sides differently. My Dad taught me to paint walls, ceilings, buildings, barns, etc. It became a second job many times and I'm thankful for skills God gave me through my Dad.
My Mom was an artist in my eyes and many of those in her family were artists, painting canvas stills and landscapes. She taught me the beauty in art; she was a beautiful soul."
New work on display by Appalachian Spirit Gallery members include paintings, executed in oils, watercolors, acrylics, and mixed media. Other work includes photography, jewelry, pottery, turned wood items, quilts, felted scarves and vessels, botanical printing, weaving, stained glass, papermaking and handmade books.
The gallery is run by the Appalachian Spirit Artists Association, a 501(c)3 organization composed of artisans who share jobs to fulfill the groupβs mission to celebrate the arts, traditions, lore and spirit of the Appalachian Mountains by demonstrating the work of local talent.
Make plans to stop by on August 8, 2025 to view the wonderful art, grab some refreshments, listen to beautiful music, sing along with friends, and do some shopping. All Artwalk events are free and open to the public.
The monthly Second Friday ArtWalks are always free and open to the public.
