Dotting of the Eye: Dragon Boat Event

Don’t miss the festival kickoff on Friday, August 15, at 6 p.m. with the beloved Dotting of the Eye Ceremony outside Our Lady Star of the Sea School. Join us as we awaken the dragons by painting their eyes—an ancient ritual believed to breathe life into the boats and bring good fortune to racers. All are welcome to help paint the eyes, and then join us on Saturday to watch your dragon race down the Patuxent River!

There *may* even be a Flash Mob, so wear red and arrive by 5 pm if you want to dance!
