Bats: Silence of the Night: Friday, August 15, 7:30-9pm
Bats fly seemingly silent through the night sky. The science of bioacoustics has taught us otherwise. Beyond our limited hearing range, bats emit high frequency calls to locate prey. Through the combined power of science and technology, humans have learned to identify bat species by their ultrasonic calls.
Join Christa Trushinsky from the Wisconsin Bat Program to learn more about bioacoustics monitoring and how it is being used in the conservation efforts of Wisconsin’s bat population. After a short presentation we will hit the trails, so please bring bug spray. Ages 10+ for this event.
No registration is required. Please meet at the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center located at N7725 Highway 28, Horicon, WI. For additional information please contact Liz Herzmann at 920-210-9054 or ZWxpemFiZXRoICEgaGVyem1hbm4gfCB3aXNjb25zaW4gISBnb3Y=.
