Enhancing Care Program – TEACH – Training, Education and Assistance for Caregiving at Home

Enhancing Care for Ontario Care Partners helps care partners across Ontario manage the stress and complexities of caring for persons living with dementia. Developed by the Reitman Centre, Sinai Health – this provincial program is funded by Ontario Health Toronto, and provided in the Southeast region by Providence Care’s Seniors Mental Health Behavioural Support Services.
The emphasis is on common caregiving themes including:
Self-care
How to navigate through the health care system
Coping with relationship changes
Planning for the future
Care partners will receive coaching in practical communication and coping skills and have the opportunity to share and learn from each other.
Duration
The program consists of four weekly sessions, each lasting 2 hours.
Group size
Limited to a maximum of eight care partners per group.
Referral
Referrals to both programs are offered on a self-referral basis.
