Instructors:
Jelena Tošović & Rodriguez Roberts
Dance Workshops:
2:00-3:30: Rumba with LIVE music
3:45-5:00: Suelta Fusion: Cuban body movement
Location: Brazilian Michigan Cultural Center (inside of Chapelle Elementary School in Ypsilanti)
Cost: $20 per class or $35/both
Rumba is a vibrant and expressive dance from Cuba with deep African and Spanish roots. It combines rhythmic drumming, call-and-response singing, and stylized movements that often tell a story or reflect playful flirtation. Traditionally performed in community gatherings, Cuban Rumba includes several styles—like Yambú, Guaguancó, and Columbia—each with its own rhythm, tempo, and character. It’s more than a dance—it’s a cultural celebration of resilience, connection, and joy.
We can’t wait to dance with you! 💃🏼
