Art and the Environment Talk

First Saturday, August 2, 2025: Free Parking in Downtown Evanston

Time: 7 PM

Speakers:

• Louise LeBourgeois, Artist
• Matt Alsteil, VP of Development for the Alliance of the Great Lakes Organization

Please join us for an evening of stimulating conversation about the intersection of art and the environment. Artist Louise LeBourgeois will be discussing her compelling waterscapes and how she connects them to her ritual of open-water swimming. Then, Matt Altstiel, VP of Development from the Alliance for the Great Lakes, will be sharing updates on the Alliance’s 2025 agenda to protect the 20% of the world’s surface fresh water right in our backyard. He’ll be discussing budget cuts at the Federal Level, the threats to our waters, as well as positive ways to make a difference. Our Great Lakes are our most precious resource, and 40% of art sales from the "Flow" Exhibition will benefit the Alliance’s essential work to safeguard the Great Lakes. We have already raised over $2500 and the exhibition runs until August 31, 2025.
