The Jigsaw Puzzle Extravaganza will be held on Saturday, August 9, 1 to 4 pm, at the East Bank Regional Library (4747 W. Napoleon Ave. in Metairie). There are three elements to this event.
• Patrons may bring their used puzzles to swap with other patrons. Each puzzle should be intact, meaning that it should have all of its pieces. Puzzles that remain untraded can be donated to the Friends of the Jefferson Public Library.
• The Jigsaw Puzzle Tournament starts precisely at 2 pm and involves teams of two people who will complete or come close to completion of a 500-piece puzzle by 4 pm. Seating for the contest is first-come, first-served. The contest is limited to adults 18 years of age and older. The first three teams to finish or that make the most headway win prizes.
• Members of the Friends of the Jefferson Public Library will be present to sell puzzles that have been donated by patrons. Sales are cash only.
