Meet Ranger Jo to explore Gomm's Wood in search of summer sun-loving butterflies

Lead Ranger: Jo Howard Mobile: 07920 643363

Transport and Address:
Please meet us at 1pm at the vehicle gate entrance to the cinema field on Herbert Service Road, just up the hill from Ash Hill Primary School. Please park considerately on surrounding residential roads. The nearest postcode is HP13 7HH.

The Walk:
We will take a walk through the beautiful wildflower meadows of Gomm's Wood, learning to identify a variety of butterflies and their food plants. An opportunity to discover more about some rare and beautiful creatures right on your doorstep! Some of the walk will be on steep slopes and rough ground, as we make our way around Micklefield Bank, the Butterfly Ride, and Gomm's Bank.
The walk will go ahead even if raining ... although there may be fewer butterflies, their wildflower foodplants will still be there to admire.

What to Bring:
Wear clothing suitable for the weather and sturdy footwear. Sunscreen and sunhats will hopefully be needed!
Ensure you bring a bottle of water to drink, especially if hot.

Volunteering and COVID-19:
Please do not attend sessions if you have tested positive for COVID or if you have COVID symptoms e.g. a new continuous cough, a high temperature, a loss of, or change in your normal sense of taste or smell.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you want to discuss anything further.
