Dates: Thursdays throughout summer;
June; 26th
July; 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th & 31st
August; 7th, 14th, 21st & 28th
Location: Ymca Lytham, Mythop Road, Lytham St Annes, FY8 4HB.
Cost: £100 is based on attending 8 sessions but you can attend all 10 if you wish, attendance at each session is not compulsory or eligible for exchange.
Who is this suitable for: Any over 16 that can use a sewing machine
What you'll Learn & Make:
Looking to grow your sewing skills in a friendly, supportive environment? Our Thursday evening workshops are designed for anyone who wants to learn or develop dressmaking skills with expert guidance, in a small group environment
Whether you’re aiming to build a capsule wardrobe, create a special garment, or simply used the sessions to learn develop new sewing skills/techniques, this workshop offers the perfect balance of structure and creative freedom. Bring your own pattern and fabric (or pick up materials during the session), and work at your own pace with help available whenever you need it.
In the first session, you’ll be encouraged to set your personal intentions — whether that’s completing a specific piece, learning new techniques, or simply carving out creative time each week. In the final session, we’ll take a moment to reflect and celebrate what everyone has achieved, whether that’s a finished garment, a new skill, or renewed confidence.
What’s Included:
Personalised support on your chosen project
Guidance with pattern instructions, fittings, and sewing techniques
Help with common challenges such as inserting zips, sewing darts, and using facings
A chance to learn from others as the tutor supports fellow participants
Space to reflect on your progress and share your successes
This is not a formal class with a set syllabus — it’s guided studio time, giving you the flexibility to work independently with the reassurance of expert help on hand.
Spaces are limited to keep the group small and ensure everyone receives quality support. Whether you’re returning to sewing after a break or looking to push your skills further, this relaxed, friendly workshop is a great way to stay motivated, inspired, and creatively fulfilled.
