Body Dysmorphia Support Group ~
Body Dysmorphia or Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) is a mental health condition characterized by an excessive preoccupation with the perceived flaws in oneβs appearance that are often not noticeable to others. Individuals with BDD may spend a significant amount of time obsessing over these perceived defects, leading to distress and impairment in daily functioning. Symptoms can include repetitive behaviors such as excessive grooming, mirror-checking, or seeking reassurance about appearance. Sometimes these symptoms can take over your day-to-day life and be very consuming. The false sense of the way we think we look can cause other issues like depression, self-harm, excessive body alterations, excessive dieting, negative self-talk, missing out on life experiences and more.
One treatment that can help to navigate your way through is a support group.
Hi, Iβm AJ. And I want to assist you in finding your way back to your true self and seeing your beautiful light within. I know the pressures of life and society all too well when it comes to our bodies and how they are perceived, mostly how those experiences cause us to perceive ourselves. I have battled with body dysmorphia most of my life and understand personally how it can affect your life. I have a calling to hold space for those who suffer in silence. I have a strong desire to create a safe place where we can support one another in an environment of trust, love and authenticity woven in cognitive healing support. I believe in the power of the mind and how we can shift our perceptions for our highest good.
You do not have to have an official diagnosis to participate in this group. If you suffer with body dysmorphia on any level, or feel you do, you are welcome.
You do not have to do hard things alone. We can help each other heal.
All mature ages and genders are welcome.
6-7pm (could go longer depending on attendance & participation)
