Dancing through the Decades with Kals Kats

Finally dancing is returning to the New Victoria ballroom, now the ballroom at Bradford Live!, After many many years a 10 piece swing band will be playing tunes from 20's to the 60's for local people to dance to in the beautifully restored ballroom.
Kals Kats can really swing and are a very popular band on the vintage circuit, they will be playing tunes suitable for jive, stroll, lindyhop and balboa and in this dance, they will be also be using the soul version of the band to play some great 60's soul and motown. Whatever type of dancing you do, there will be suitable music.
So plenty of music to experience the ballroom as it should be experienced – for dancing!

Tickets are £34 and are quite limited (as we have to have a dancefloor!! ) and are available at https://buytickets.at/vintagespotlight/1775845

Mark Memphis, who, as Mark Nicholson, was very involved in the campaign to save the building and wrote the book "The People's Palace" will be doing a short session singing songs from the 50's and 60's. Just like the old days there will be an MC, the wonderful Stevie Cruz.

Mark and myself appeared in the TV show (Hidden History – Palace of Dreams) about the building with Michael Portillo along with dancers in the ballroom – all will be there on the night to see the transformation.

I also appeared in the local film "A Bunch of Amateurs" and the wonderful Colin, who is now 92 years old, desperately wants to see the restoration as it was in the "New Victoria" ballroom that he met his wife. So I have organised a visit for older people to come into the ballroom before the main dance and experience the live 10 piece band playing, just as they remember it (thanks to the band and the venue for agreeing). If people know of other older people who have such memories of the New Victoria then please contact me.
