Frank Lloyd Wright: The Collection of Dr. Charles Hamilton Exhibit Reception Opening

The Jaffrey Civic Center is very excited to share with the public Dr. Charles Hamilton’s private collection of Frank Lloyd Wright. This exhibition will run August 8 – September 20. There will be an opening reception on Friday, August 8 5-7.
Jaffrey native, Dr. Charles Hamilton (1930 – 2019), first learned about Frank Llyod Wright in 1953 when he happened upon a televised discussion between the great architect and NBC reporter Hugh Downs in which Wright expressed his desire for a new American architecture to represent democracy and freedom. Over the following 50 years, Dr. Hamilton collected books, periodicals, and articles about Frank Llyod Wright and corresponded with Wright homeowners who shared stories and photos. As he once wrote to a friend, “my collection gives me great solace. I can now sit in my room, close my eyes, and be transported into a Wright house. I can visualize the details and even the seasonal changes.”
