Power pop group Lucy's Neighbor plays Best Video Film & Cultural Center on Sat., Aug. 23. The show starts at 7 PM with an opening set by Eric Sanders aka MangoKarma. The cover is $10.
Lucy’s Neighbor—named after the Mrs. Matilda Trumbull character in the “I Love Lucy” Sitcom—is an original indie rock/power pop band from New Haven. The members are Derek Di Fronzo (vocals); Dave Esposito (guitar); Tom Quagliano (drums) and Ed Flynn (bass). They will be playing songs from their four self-released CDs, the self-titled “Lucy’s Neighbor” (2011), “Over Easy” (2018), “Till It’s Gone” (2020), and "Long Road Home" (2023).
Eric Sanders, also known as MangoKarma, blends emotive vocals with soft rock and multiple guitar pop sensibilities, exploring themes of love, loss, and introspection. His vulnerable narratives resonate with raw emotion similar to those of Jeff Buckley and Thom Yorke. Based in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Sanders has a decades-long history of playing in bands and as a solo artist, performing at music festivals, off-Broadway, and the iconic CBGB.
