A Service of Word based on Hosea 1:2-10

Switching from Amos to one of his contemporaries, Hosea, we are met with the biblical metaphor of marriage showing our relationship to God. God’s relationship with Israel is very much like a biblical covenant of marriage, where the husband covenants to provide for the wife, and the wife covenants to bear offspring. But like Hosea’s wife Gomer, Israel has not held up their end of the bargain. How does God react to Israel’s unfaithfulness? And what does that mean for our unfaithfulness today?
