October is National Seafood Month! Join Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant to learn about Georgia’s commercial seafood industry and get hands on experience handling and tasting some of Georgia’s most popular seafood, that our coast is known for!

The program kicks off outdoors with an introduction to Georgia’s seafood industry led by Bryan Fluech, our Fisheries Specialist. Bryan works closely with the state’s commercial shrimping fleet, supporting sustainable practices and workforce development through training and technical assistance. He’ll give an overview of the industry and guide participants through hands-on demonstrations, including how to head shrimp and shuck oysters.

Afterward, the program moves indoors for a cooking demonstration led by our in-house chef, Earl Jones. You’ll get to sample a freshly prepared local seafood dish and learn tips for bringing coastal flavors into your own kitchen.

Cost: $45. Registration is required and includes admission to the UGA Aquarium. This program was created with older kids and adults in mind, but children under 18 are welcome. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are nonrefundable. Learn more at https://bit.ly/3GIsMnn
