As a result of numerous queries from our supporters about another concerning issue related to City Dock, SOH is tracking the process for the legislation named O-14-25. This ordinance will change/increase the height limits in a single block of Dock St to accommodate the development of a hotel with a rooftop bar at the site of the restaurant Latitude 38. There will be a hearing before the Housing Committee of the Council tomorrow, July 21, at 6 pm. We believe there will be a second hearing on Wednesday July 23 at 3 pm at a joint meeting of the Rules and Environmental Matters committees (no agenda is published at the time of this posting).
There will be a public hearing for the entire council on Monday July 28th at 7pm. The legislation may be put up for a vote at that time.
Our suggestion is simple: strip out the provisions in this ordinance that would change/increase the height limits downtown.
If you are concerned about the direction our treasured waterfront is headed, please attend any and all meetings and make your voice heard.
