๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€โšง๏ธ Call to Action: Demand Accountability & Stand Against Hate

What happened during the July 14, 2025 Pueblo City Council meeting was not just inappropriateโ€”it was dangerous.

Councilor Roger Gomez used his platform to question the presence of a library staff member based on their gender identity, suggesting they made the library less โ€œfamily friendly.โ€ Since then, we have learned that Councilor Gomez personally confronted staff at the Rawlings Library, targeting public employees simply for being who they are.

This behavior is not a misunderstanding. It is targeted intimidation. And we must respond.

๐Ÿ“ข Join us for a Rally for Respect and Accountability

๐Ÿ—“ Monday, July 28
๐Ÿ•” 5:00 PM โ€” Rally begins
๐Ÿ“ Outside Memorial Hall (1 City Hall Place, Pueblo)
๐Ÿงฃ Wear rainbow gear to show unity and pride
๐Ÿ—ฃ Stay for the 7:00 PM City Council meeting โ€” public comment opportunities are expected

City leaders, including Councilor Sarah Martinez, Councilor Dennis Flores, and Mayor Heather Graham, have spoken out and are introducing a resolution of censure against Councilor Gomez. But they need to know that the community has their backโ€”and that silence is not an option.

This is about more than one employee. This is about whether Pueblo is a place where LGBTQ+ people are safe, respected, and treated with dignity. Public institutions must be inclusive of all, and public officials must be held accountable when they use their power to sow fear and division.

We stand with our LGBTQ+ community. We stand with public workers. And we will not be silent.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Share this post and show up.
Together, we will show Pueblo what real leadership and real community look like.
