STC Practice Tri

Hi everyone! We're going to have a self-directed, untimed practice tri on the 31st during our swim. This is optional for all members and guests, and will be a great chance to get in some practice on a weeknight. (If you don't plan on practicing, then you can swim as normal). Thanks to Michelle and Harry Ching for suggesting this and for helping out. Here are the details:

Saratoga Tri Club - Practice Triathlon at Moreau Lake
Thursday, July 31, 2025 | 6:00 PM Start

Swim. Bike. Run. Your way - Self-Guided Sprint inside Moreau Lake State Park

Join your fellow Saratoga Tri Club members for an evening sprint triathlon that's low-pressure, self-paced, and completely inside the beautiful Moreau Lake State Park. With lifeguards on duty and a supportive group vibe, this is the perfect way to train, test your fitness, or simply enjoy a mid-summer multi-sport challenge!
We will have a transition area that will be staffed, and if you wish to participate, we will do a different marking so we know you'll have a bike to pick up.

• Swim: 400-1000 yards - in the guarded swim zone at Moreau Lake.
• Bike: 4-8 miles - on the internal paved park roads (multiple loops).
• Run: 1-2 miles - on the lake loop trail (1-2 laps).

Swim - Moreau Lake

• Group swim with the Saratoga Tri Club - Starts at 6 PM.
• Lifeguards on duty within marked swim areas.
• Distance is flexible - loop near buoys for structure.
• Bright swim caps and flip-flops recommended.
• Wetsuit optional depending on lake temperature.

Bike - Inside the Park
• Use the main park road for your ride - smooth and low traffic.
• Do multiple loops to hit your desired distance (4-8 miles).
• Helmets required at all times.
• Stay alert for walkers, cars, and park staff.
• No riding outside the park - this is an in-park event.

Run - Lake Loop
• Lake trail is roughly 1 mile per loop.
• Choose 1-2 loops based on your training goals.
• Trail is shaded, scenic, and ideal for evening running.
• Track your laps using GPS or manual count.

General Tips
• Bring everything you need - no aid stations on course.
• Transition area will be set up near check in and will be staffed.
• Bring bug spray, water, and recovery snacks.
• Plan to be finished by 7:30 PM - park closes at dusk.
• Please obey all park rules and leave no trace.
• Great opportunity to connect with fellow Tri Club members and enjoy the park together!

We'll have some additional details coming up as well, including a suggested map for the bike.
