Richard Bartolotti lost his life on July 4, 2018 while helping a neighbor cut down a tree. Bartolotti was a Purple Heart and Silver Star recipient in the Vietnam War, he was a coal miner, an advocate for unions and veterans rights. He was always there to help anyone no matter what that βhelp" was, he would do everything in his power to help you. He was very active with the Democratic Party and various Veteran Organizations. In lieu of flowers at his service the family asked for donations to be made in his honor for the Southern Illinois Honor Flight. The family was able to make a donation of over $6,000 to help veterans go to Washington DC. They would like to continue his legacy by raising money to help high school seniors with scholarships and helping Veterans with donations to the Honor Flight.
