In this fiction/nonfiction hybrid from director Jem Cohen (a guest of the Webster Film Series in April 2001 alongside his terrific doc Benjamin Smoke), we follow the Austrian astronomer Karl who is experiencing a bit of a crisis. His physicist wife is growing distant, his job is being reshaped by environmental crises, and the future is in doubt. Seeking reconnection to the stars, Karl seeks the darkened sky from a remote mountain trail. With drifty, Malickian voiceover, Little, Big, & Far will appeal to fans of the doc Particle Fever, as well as those eclipse chasers St. Louis has proudly hosted in the past decade.
