Join Healthy Start at 6:00 pm on October 15th at Kiwanis Park in Okeechobee County for a candlelight service in memory of babies lost too soon. This event coincides with the global Wave of Light and International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, which concludes Baby Loss Awareness Week.
Miscarriage (loss before 20 weeks) and stillbirth (loss at 20 weeks or later) affect many families. In the U.S., about 24,000 babies are stillborn annually, and in 2020, 19,582 infants died, with 1,213 of those deaths in Florida. Healthy Start aims to bring awareness to these tragedies, support grieving families, and promote change to reduce future losses.
This free community event is an opportunity to honor and remember the lives lost and support affected families.
