Garden Club is a social gardening group, that runs every Monday and Thursday from 10am. Members spend the morning gardening together, and then stop at 12:30pm for a cuppa, before finishing at 1pm and taking home a share in the days harvest. Attendance is by membership only. SEEDs Communal Garden is a values focused “communal” garden model which consists of no individual plots, instead the garden is a gathering space where the community share in the entire gardening process from seed to plate. The heart of the garden is our Compost Hub, which responds to the need for a sustainable and accessible community-based solution to food waste, which is processed through a variety of systems including hot composting, worm farm and an industrial food waste dehydrator. Our garden is also a creative space where people can express their creativity through activities such as weaving, making, cooking and drawing. We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which the garden grows, the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung of the Kulin nation, and recognise the continuing connection to lands, waters and community. We pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander cultures and to Elders past, present and emerging.
