Music in the Parks: Irish Diplomacy

This week at the Lake Harriet Bandshell we are hosting Irish Diplomacy, an Irish/Celtic band. Irish Diplomacy brings together musicians from many facets of the Twin Cities music scene who have the desire to play everything IRISH. What started as a small "Sunday afternoon excuse to not clean the house" project has now expanded to a large ensemble including a strange and terrifying array of instruments- and people. Not necessarily rule followers, all of these individuals bring their own ideas and experiences to the Irish tradition. There are touches of blues, jazz, rock and americana flashing through the mix, but at heart- it is Irish in the most diplomatic sense, from some sweet talkers who have the ability to convince audience members that Celtic music is an important part of the great Minnesota musical experience. Since 1892, Music in the Parks has provided residents and families opportunities to gather and enjoy local music throughout the summer. Since its inception thousands of free concerts have taken place. Concerts are weekly and vary from classic rock, hip hop, international, funk and many more genres of music.
