Archway Gallery is pleased to announce an invitational exhibition of works by artists who regularly participate in its weekly figure drawing sessions. These artists come together, as individual schedules permit, to work from the human figure in a practice stretching back many centuries. Working in the medium of choice, the artists present pieces created in or inspired by these weekly sessions. The exhibition will open with a public reception on Saturday, August 2 and most of the featured artists are expected to attend.
To further honor this age-old practice, a figure drawing marathon on August 17 will commence with the regular 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. session (SESSION ONE), which is open to adults over 18. It will continue with clothed models throughout the gallery’s open business hours from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. This SESSION TWO may be joined by the all-ages public for the nominal fee of $20 to participate. Observing the session and visiting the gallery and its art offerings are free of charge. Finally, SESSION THREE will commence at 5:30 p.m., open to adults over 18. Total fee for all 3 sessions is $50, or artists may choose to attend as their schedules permit. Click here for tickets.
Previous drawing experience is not required, and the gallery will supply all furniture required (tables, easels). Participants may bring the art supplies of choice. The gallery maintains a supply of extra materials for those who need them or who decide to participate on the spur of the moment. No photography will be permitted of the models, although photos may be taken of the art-making activity.
