The Highwayman: Songs and Stories

Longtime New England musician/author Matt York will perform the songs of Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson and Waylon Jennings and tell stories of their careers. The four songwriting legends joined forces in the 1980's to form the country supergroup the Highwaymen. However, prior to that, they'd each established themselves as stars and their careers intersected many times since the 1960's. In both 2022 and 2023, York was nominated for the Boston Music Award for Best Country Artist and in 2019, The Boston Globe named Matt York's new album "Bruisable Heart" one of their top albums.

This program will be outdoors in the pavilion unless weather prohibits. In case of rain, thunderstorms, or temperatures above 90 degrees, the program will move indoors to Volunteers Hall; indoor seats are limited to 100 attendees, with seats allocated to people who have pre-registered for the event. Those who have registered will receive a notification if the program moves indoors.

If the program is outdoors, please bring a blanket or lawn chairs and feel free to bring a picnic dinner!
