Local artist Shirley Esco says art is not only food for the eyes, but for the soul. Her medium of choice is acrylic, and her primary subjects are serene landscapes. She has lived in rural Alabama all her life where the beautiful scenery is reflected in her work.
Her paintings are representational.
While working full time, she studied graphic art at Auburn University in Montgomery (AUM) for three years, but later decided that painting on a canvas was where she belonged. After retiring, she was able to pursue her love of art full-time and has won numerous awards. Shirley enrolled in many art instructed workshops through continuing education art classes at AUM. She is a member of the Montgomery Art Guild and the Elmore County Art Guild and became a member of Gallery One Fire Art in Montgomery in 2007. Shirley’s paintings hang in both private and public collections.
