This two day oil painting workshop is designed for those with very little experience with oil paints and aims to deepen their understanding of safe practices, proper use of materials, and foundational techniques. Participants will learn about oil paints, mediums, glazes, solvents, brushes, and substrates, with all supplies provided. More advanced painters can still benefit from learning more of the key concepts in realistic painting, basic color theory, and light logic. Students will complete two alla prima paintings—a simple still life and potentially a landscape—while gaining the skills and guidance needed to confidently start or advance their oil painting practice. The course concludes with practical exercises to help participants improve and refine their artistic abilities. Please note that there is a $10 fee for this class and space is limited, so sign up early.
